AI PR review grounded in a code graph, not the diff
By Steven Van ·
Reviews now run when a PR is opened or marked ready, with @graphify review for on-demand reruns, and findings stay advisory and never block merging.
Graphify's AI PR reviews now run when a pull request is ready, not on every push, and a new @graphify review comment requests a fresh one on demand. Graphify says reviews have been in the product since August 11, and these two changes are meant to make them quieter.
Why the graph matters
A review that reads only the diff sees the lines that changed. Graphify's review also follows the call edges in its code graph, so it sees the callers and dependencies those lines can reach. If a function's return value changes, the diff shows the function but not the places that use the result in files nobody touched. The review can walk those edges and check whether each caller still makes sense.
When reviews run
- A review runs when a PR is opened or reopened.
- A draft PR is reviewed when it is marked Ready for review.
- Pushing more commits no longer triggers a new review on its own.
- Commenting @graphify review reviews the PR's current head and updates the result.
Formal verification is unchanged. It still runs on every push and compares against the merge base.
What a review flags
Findings are tied to code the change can reach and ranked by how likely they are to need a fix. Reviews can also add advisory notes on risky patterns in added lines and on documentation that may be out of date after the change. Each finding sits next to the code it refers to. Advisory notes can be switched on or off per repository.
Reviews are advisory and do not block merging. A review is not proof that behavior is unchanged, which is the job of verification.
Teaching the review
Replies on the pull request tune which findings appear:
- @graphify wrong finding dismisses a finding that does not apply.
- @graphify good finding confirms a useful one.
- @graphify suppress rule mutes a rule, optionally for one path.
The Learn page shows what Graphify has learned for the workspace and who gave the feedback. Learning only changes which advisory findings appear and never changes a formal verification verdict.
Setup
Connect a GitHub repository in Graphify and open a pull request. PR reviews can be turned off for a single repository under Repositories, then Options, and indexing stays on. The open-source CLI also has graphify prs for a local, graph-based look at open PRs, installed with uv tool install graphifyy.
