Gemini gets proactive task automation on Android

Google Pixel and Galaxy phones get Gemini that navigates apps for multi-step tasks this summer, alongside Chrome, Gboard and widget updates.
Google is bringing Gemini Intelligence to Android, starting with proactive automation for multi-step tasks. It will navigate apps for you, such as booking a rideshare or spin class bike, finding a class syllabus in Gmail and adding the required books to a cart, or turning a photographed brochure into a search on a shopping app. You stay in control: Gemini acts only on command, works in the background with notifications, and stops for a final confirmation once the task is done.
The update also adds:
- Gemini in Chrome, arriving late June, to research, summarise and compare web content and handle tasks like appointment or parking bookings
- Smarter Autofill with Google, using Gemini's Personal Intelligence to fill in complex forms from connected apps; this is opt-in and can be toggled in settings
- Rambler, a Gboard feature that turns rambling, multi-language voice notes into polished text messages, without storing the audio
- Create My Widget, which builds custom home screen or Wear OS widgets from a natural-language description
These features roll out this summer on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, then expand later in 2026 to watches, cars, glasses and laptops. Full details are in Google's announcement.
