Gemini API CLI (gemini-api) beta
By Steven Van ·
A stateless, zero-dependency command-line client for coding agents, scripts and CI pipelines, built on the Interactions API and now in beta.
Google has released Gemini API CLI (gemini-api) in beta, a command-line client built for AI coding agents, shell scripts and CI pipelines. The Gemini API CLI guide covers getting started.
What it does
The CLI runs on the Interactions API. With gemini-api, you can:
- Generate text and media
- Analyze files
- Run Gemini managed agents
Design
The client is stateless and has zero dependencies. Google describes it as a way to give coding agents, shell scripts and CI pipelines a command-line route to Gemini without a separate integration.
