Gemini 2.5 models access update
By Steven Van ·
New Gemini API projects are pointed to 3.5 Flash-Lite or 3.8 Flash, while 2.5 model access is now limited to prior users.
Google is restricting access to its Gemini 2.5 models to accounts that have actively used them before, as part of an update to Gemini's API. The models aren't deprecated and will keep being served to existing users, but new projects are directed instead to 3.5 Flash-Lite or 3.8 Flash. Google says the change is meant to preserve capacity for both legacy workflows and new applications. Details are in the Gemini API changelog.
