Gemini in Chrome expands across Asia-Pacific

Desktop and iOS users in seven APAC markets get the AI side panel, plus new Nano Banana 2 image editing from text prompts.
Gemini in Chrome is now rolling out to desktop and iOS users in Asia-Pacific, including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam (iOS excluded in Japan). The Chrome assistant can summarise long pages, compare information across open tabs, and, through its integrations with Google apps, schedule meetings in Calendar, look up locations in Maps, draft and send email in Gmail, and answer questions about YouTube videos without leaving the page.
The rollout also brings new Nano Banana 2 capabilities, letting users transform images on the web with a text prompt from the Gemini in Chrome side panel. Google says the models are trained to recognise threats like prompt injection and will ask for confirmation before completing sensitive actions.
