Reopening Copilot Business and Enterprise signups
We’re gradually reopening sign-ups for Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers paying by credit card or PayPal over the next couple of weeks.
GitHub is reopening sign-ups for Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise for customers paying by credit card or PayPal, rolling out gradually over the next couple of weeks. If the plan you want isn't available yet, GitHub says to check back soon.
Alongside the reopening, GitHub is tightening account vetting and changing how these customers are billed:
- New Copilot Business or Enterprise seat assignments will require payment before the user gets access.
- Starting at the next billing cycle, assigned seats will be charged upfront, including for existing customers as of October 1, 2026.
- Usage beyond the included allowance may require additional payment, and included usage may be prorated across the month to match seat proration.
Plan pricing, seat proration, and the ability to buy additional usage above the included allowance are not changing. GitHub notes that fully cancelling Copilot and returning later may trigger the updated vetting and billing behaviour. More detail is in the original announcement.
