MAI-Code-1-Flash deprecated
By Steven Van ·
Microsoft's MAI-Code-1-Flash is gone from Copilot Chat, edits, and completions, with MAI-Code-1.1-Flash as the suggested replacement.
GitHub has deprecated the MAI-Code-1-Flash model across all GitHub Copilot experiences, including Copilot Chat, inline edits, ask and agent modes, and code completions, effective September 10, 2026. The suggested alternative is MAI-Code-1.1-Flash.
No action is required to remove the deprecated model. Copilot Enterprise administrators may need to enable access to MAI-Code-1.1-Flash through their model policies in Copilot settings before it appears in the Copilot Chat model selector in VS Code and on github.com.
