Gemini 4 Argon in GitHub Copilot

By Steven Van ·

Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users get access through a gradual rollout, with billing at provider list pricing.

Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users can now select Gemini 4 Argon in GitHub Copilot, with availability rolling out gradually. Google’s model is designed for complex coding, agentic, and reasoning tasks.

Coding and checking work

GitHub reports that in early testing, Gemini 4 Argon solved more tasks than previous Gemini models on every coding benchmark, with its largest gains in Copilot CLI. It also checks its work and tests edge cases before finishing.

Where to select it

The model picker offers Gemini 4 Argon in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot coding agent, GitHub Copilot app, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse. The supported models documentation lists Visual Studio 17.14.22 or 18.1.0 as the minimum versions for this model.

Billing and access controls

Gemini 4 Argon is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing. Business and Enterprise administrators can manage access through the model policy in Copilot settings. Under default model enablement, it is enabled automatically unless an administrator has turned off the global default or explicitly disabled the model.
