Google's Gemini 3.8 Flash is now available as a model choice in GitHub Copilot. GitHub says early testing showed it performing strongly on complex terminal-based coding tasks, with rigorous validation and persistent recovery from actionable failures.

The model is rolling out gradually to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users, and can be picked from the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, the GitHub Copilot cloud agent, the Copilot app, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse. It's billed at introductory provider pricing under usage-based billing through December 31, 2026. Business and Enterprise admins can control access through the model policy in Copilot settings; new models are enabled by default unless an admin turns that off.
