Claude Haiku 5.5 in GitHub Copilot

By Steven Van ·

Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users get access through a gradual rollout, with billing at provider list pricing.

Copilot users can now choose Anthropic’s lightweight Claude Haiku 5.5 for subagents, quick edits, and terminal tasks. In early testing, GitHub says it matched Claude Sonnet 5 on many coding tasks while using significantly fewer tokens and steps.

Choosing the model

Claude Haiku 5.5 is generally available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users, with a gradual rollout. Users can select it in the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot cloud agent, GitHub Copilot app, github.com, GitHub Mobile on iOS and Android, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse.

The model is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing.

Managing access

Business and Enterprise administrators can manage access through the model policy in Copilot settings. Under default model enablement, new models are automatically enabled unless an administrator has turned off the global default or explicitly disabled the model. GitHub’s supported models documentation explains how the default policy applies to unconfigured models.
