New REST API fields let enterprise and organization admins track adoption of the dedicated VS Code Agents window separately from Agent Mode.

Copilot usage metrics on GitHub's REST API now report activity from the dedicated VS Code Agents window. The change is generally available across enterprise and organization reports.

Aggregate reports (1-day and 28-day) add daily_active_vscode_agent_users and a totals_by_vscode_agent summary of session count and total user messages.
User-level reports add a used_vscode_agent flag and per-user session and message totals.

The metrics cover only the dedicated VS Code Agents window, not editor-window Agent Mode, and require the Copilot usage metrics policy to be enabled.
