Gemini lets you set up a reusable avatar for Nano Banana images

Google removed the most repetitive step in the make-AI-images-of-yourself workflow. Gemini now supports avatars: set up your digital likeness once, and from then on you can generate custom Nano Banana images of yourself in different scenes, styles, or eras, without hunting for and uploading a selfie every single time.
The selfie tax, abolished
Nano Banana's breakout use case has always been personal: you in a Renaissance portrait, you as a 90s action figure, you in the trend of the week. But every one of those generations started with the same chore, find a good selfie, upload it, hope the likeness holds. An avatar turns that into persistent state. Gemini remembers what you look like, so the prompt shrinks to just the fun part: where, when, and in what style you want to appear.
Consistency is the real feature
Beyond saved time, a fixed avatar means a consistent likeness across generations. One-off selfie uploads produce a slightly different you each time, depending on the photo's angle and lighting; a set-once avatar gives the model a stable reference. For creators, that's what makes the feature more than a toy: recurring characters in thumbnails, a consistent illustrated persona across a series, branded content where you appear the same way every time.
