Standalone image generation

By Steven Van ·

Gamma's API and MCP server can now generate a single on-brand image from a prompt, with optional reference images, saved to the workspace media library.

Gamma's API can now generate a single image from a prompt, separate from building a full gamma. POST /images creates an on-brand image and accepts optional reference images. Because the request is asynchronous, the result is retrieved by polling GET /images/{id}.

Saved to the media library

Generated images are saved to the workspace media library. An image can be archived with POST /images/media/{savedMediaId}/archive.

MCP tools

The same workflow is available through MCP with two tools: generate_image and get_image_generation_status.

The change is listed in the Gamma API changelog, and Gamma does not state plan or credit requirements for it.
