Gamma adds an edit button that opens deck images in Imagine

By Steven Van ·

Re-prompt, resize, or erase parts of any deck image, including uploads and stock photos, on all plans.

Gamma just closed one of the most annoying gaps in its workflow. The presentation tool now shows an edit button on your images that takes you straight into Gamma Imagine, its full AI image canvas, for advanced editing. You can re-prompt an image, resize it, and erase parts of it until it fits your deck, and the feature is available on all plans. It sounds small, but it changes how image fixes work in Gamma: instead of regenerating an image from scratch and hoping the next roll is better, you now surgically fix the one you already have.

The edit button that jumps straight into Imagine

Imagine is Gamma's dedicated AI design canvas, the tool it launched for creating standalone visuals like infographics, posters, and logos from a text description. Until now it lived mostly as its own destination. The new edit button wires it directly into the deck-building flow: select any image in your presentation, hit edit, and you land in Imagine with that image loaded and the full toolset available. Crucially, this works on any image, not just ones Gamma generated. You can pull in an uploaded product shot or a stock photo and rework it with the same AI tools.

Re-prompt, resize, and erase without starting over

Three capabilities do the heavy lifting. Re-prompting lets you describe a change in plain language, like making the background darker or swapping the text on a sign, and Imagine applies it to the existing image instead of generating a new one. Resize extends or constrains an image beyond its original dimensions, which is the practical fix for the eternal problem of an AI image that is the wrong aspect ratio for its card. The eraser removes objects or backgrounds with AI fill, so a stray artifact or an off-brand element no longer forces a full regeneration. Imagine also offers restyling, cropping, and up to three variations per generation, and every edit is saved as a new version so you can roll back if an experiment goes sideways.

Why this matters for deck builders

AI presentation tools have gotten very good at first drafts and much less good at the last ten percent. Imagery is usually where that last ten percent stalls: the generated picture is almost right, but a logo is garbled or the framing is off, and the only remedy was rerolling until something usable appeared. Wiring Imagine into the editing flow gives Gamma an answer that competitors like Beautiful.ai and Canva's deck tools handle with varying degrees of friction. It also means brand-conscious teams can enforce consistency, since restyling and targeted edits keep a deck's visuals coherent instead of a grab bag of unrelated generations.

Available on all plans, powered by credits

Gamma says the edit button is rolling out on all plans, so free users get access too. Keep in mind that Imagine actions consume credits from your Gamma account, with each generation or edit drawing from your balance, so heavier image work will move you through your allowance faster. If you have not opened Gamma in a while, this lands alongside a steady run of updates this year, including multipage gammas that bundle related pages under one link. The direction is clear: Gamma wants the entire deck, visuals included, finished inside one tool.
