Flow Music lets producers upload their own beats to remix

The Google AI tool now builds vocals and arrangements on top of instrumentals you supply, on web and iOS.
Google's Flow Music just crossed the line that separates AI music toys from tools producers can actually use: you can now upload your own beats and instrumentals directly into the app, then remix them. Until now, Flow Music tracks started from prompts or from covers of existing songs inside the platform; this update lets your own material be the raw ingredient.
Your tracks as the starting point
The workflow is what beatmakers have been asking every AI music tool for: bring a beat or instrumental you made, upload it directly into Flow Music, and use the platform's generation and remix tools on top of it. That flips the creative relationship. Instead of the AI composing and you curating, you supply the musical identity, the drums, the progression, the sound that's recognizably yours, and the AI builds around it: vocals, new arrangements, variations, different directions on the same foundation.
Why this matters for producers
Prompt-only music generators have a ceiling for anyone with an existing catalog: the output never sounds like you. Upload support turns Flow Music into something closer to a collaborator with your stems in hand. Practically, it means a producer can test how a hook lands over a beat before booking a vocalist, sketch five directions for a client from the same instrumental, or resurrect old beats sitting in a folder by remixing them into finished tracks. It also gives Flow Music's social side, where creations are shared and remixed in Spaces, a supply of original human-made material rather than purely AI-seeded content.
Flow Music's steady buildout
The update continues a busy 2026 for the app. Covers, editing controls, and music videos arrived at Google I/O in May alongside the iOS app, which expanded to the UK, EU, and Switzerland in June. In July, Google announced it is retiring its MusicFX experiments at the end of the month to make Flow Music the long-term home for music projects. Upload support fits that trajectory: less experiment, more instrument.
