Filmora 15.7 adds stackable masks, LUT export, and a beauty suite

By Steven Van ·

The update, out now on Windows and Mac, also adds Multi-Frame layouts for collages and before-and-after comparisons.

Wondershare just shipped Filmora 15.7, and it is one of the more editor-focused updates the app has had in a while. Instead of another batch of one-click AI gimmicks, this release upgrades the tools you actually live in: masking, color, retouching, and layouts. The five headline features are Masking 2.0, LUT Export, a Beauty Makeup Suite, Multi-Frame, and Multi-Frame Layout. Together they push Filmora further into territory that used to require Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, while keeping the approachable timeline that made it popular with social creators in the first place.

Masking 2.0 brings a real multi-mask workflow

Masking has been Filmora's biggest gap compared to pro NLEs. Until now you were mostly limited to a single mask per clip, which made layered composites awkward. Masking 2.0 lets you stack multiple masks on one clip and manage them in a proper multi-mask workflow, so you can isolate a subject, protect a second region, and cut a shape out of the background all at once. That unlocks the classic tricks creators want: text hiding behind a subject, selective color on two areas at the same time, and cleaner clone effects, all without round-tripping to another app.

LUT Export: grade once, apply everywhere

The color upgrade is just as practical. You can now export your color grade as a reusable LUT, complete with preview thumbnails and better management for your color presets. Dial in a look on one project, save it, and drop it onto every video in a series so your channel stays visually consistent. Because LUTs are a universal format, a grade you build in Filmora can also travel to other tools in your pipeline. For anyone producing weekly content, turning an hour of grading into a one-click preset is the kind of feature that quietly saves days over a year.

Beauty Makeup Suite goes beyond skin smoothing

Filmora has offered basic retouching for a while, but the new Beauty Makeup Suite is a full set of face controls. You can apply complete makeup looks instantly or fine-tune individual details with precision, which matters for talking-head creators, beauty channels, and anyone filming under unflattering lighting. Wondershare has been investing in this area for a while, including AI skin tone protection so grades and filters do not wreck natural skin color, and the new suite builds on that foundation.

Multi-Frame and Multi-Frame Layout for collages and comparisons

The last two features work as a pair. Multi-Frame lets you drag ready-made multi-frame effects onto the timeline to build collages, split screens, and before-and-after comparisons in seconds. Multi-Frame Layout then lets you fine-tune each clip inside the arrangement, so you control exactly how every cell is positioned and cropped. The 15.7 release also refreshed split-screen templates so you can swap in your own media while keeping the original effect intact. If you make reaction content, product comparisons, tutorials with a facecam, or transformation videos, this replaces a lot of fiddly manual keyframing.

Where this leaves Filmora in the editor race

The 15.x cycle has been busy: version 15.0 added a pen tool and animated charts, 15.1 introduced the AI Mate conversational assistant, and 15.5 brought an AI video extender. Version 15.7 is the release that rounds out the craft tools. Filmora still is not a full Resolve replacement, but the gap keeps shrinking, and the freemium pricing means you can test all of this with a watermarked export before paying. The update is rolling out now on Windows and Mac, with Filmora's mobile apps sharing the broader ecosystem. If you tried Filmora a few versions ago and bounced off its limits, 15.7 is a good excuse to look again.
