Updates to generative plugins and shaders
At Config, we launched the ability build your own custom generative plugins and shaders by prompting the Figma agent.
Generative plugins and shaders, the custom tools Figma users can build by prompting the Figma agent, now do more than render a static effect. Figma has added animation, publishing and code access on top of the feature introduced at Config.
- Animated and interactive shaders: prompt the agent to build a shader effect or fill that incorporates motion and reacts to mouse movements.
- Community publishing: publish generative plugins and shaders to the Figma Community for others to use.
- Publish to organization: share private generative plugins and shaders across an organization to standardize effects or tool usage, available on the Organization and Enterprise plans.
- Code viewer: view and download the code for any shader, and for generative plugins you've built, directly in Figma.
- MCP updates: view and edit generative plugins and shaders from a third-party agent via Figma's MCP server. Copying a frame with shaders applied into an external agent now renders those shaders correctly in the generated React code.
