The most common, least glamorous job in video repurposing, converting one aspect ratio into another, just got a dedicated model on fal. LTX-2.3 Reframe, from the team at LTX, converts any video between 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and 5:4, and where the new frame exposes areas the original never filmed, it generates them to match the scene.
Outpainting, but for motion
Going from vertical to landscape (or square to anything) has always been the hard direction: there's simply no footage beyond the original frame, so editors reach for blurred-background pillars or awkward crops. Reframe treats it as generative outpainting in motion, synthesizing the missing regions so they track the original scene's lighting, texture, and movement across time. Going the other way, landscape to vertical, it's a smarter crop that can recompose rather than just cut. Specs are practical: up to 60 seconds of input, outputs at 720p or 1080p.
Every platform, one master
The five supported ratios read like a distribution checklist: 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok, 1:1 and 4:5 for feeds, 5:4 for the odd cases. For creators and teams, the promise is shooting or generating one master and deriving every platform version from it, the same one-master-every-format logic Reve shipped for still images this week with its own Reframe tool, and no coincidence in naming. Cross-format flexibility is becoming a layer of the stack.
