Emil Kowalski posted a weekend animation cleanup

By Steven Van ·

The three skills are free under the MIT license, though the repo also covers design, Swift, and Sonner.

Run /remove-animations, then /improve-animations, then /animation-performance. Emil Kowalski posted that weekend sequence on October 31, 2026 for Skills for Designers and Engineers. He says it removes unnecessary, annoying animations, improves the ones that stay, and makes sure they are performant, which he calls free wins.

The repository is free under the MIT license, copyright 2026 Emil Kowalski, and it draws on his work at Vercel and Linear. Install it with npx skills@latest add emilkowalski/skills. His premise is that agents lack taste, such as choosing ease-in for an enter animation, and the skills list those small mistakes and how to fix them.

The weekend trio sits in a longer set. emil-design-eng is the main skill, mostly animation plus design advice. The rest cover React Native and Expo, Apple interface principles, Swift, prototypes, phone-native fixes, and Sonner, his toast library. A newsletter signup is at aiforui.dev/skills.
