ElevenLabs and Universal Music Group Strategic Agreement

By Steven Van ·

ElevenLabs' first major-label deal will fund a new fan platform for remixing and reinterpreting licensed UMG artists' tracks.

ElevenLabs has signed a multi-year licensing and product agreement with Universal Music Group, its first deal with a major label. The two companies will jointly develop AI audio products for artists and songwriters, and ElevenLabs will launch a new AI-powered music platform for fans.

The platform, now in development, is built on licensed music and participation from UMG artists and songwriters. It will let fans create remixes and mashups, new interpretations of tracks, and personalized vocal experiences with participating artists. It will be offered separately from ElevenLabs' existing music products, the Music API and ElevenMusic.

ElevenLabs says the agreement also covers additional products and fan experiences to come, and that artists and songwriters will be compensated for use of their work on the new platform.
