Clone strength for v4 voices

By Steven Van ·

The new 0 to 1 setting for v4 Professional Voice Clones replaces the deprecated use_pvc_as_ivc flag on Text to Dialogue requests.

Text to Speech and Text to Dialogue requests on ElevenLabs now accept a clone_strength value from 0 to 1. It controls how closely a Professional Voice Clone (PVC) fine-tuned for a v4 model follows its training samples, according to the API documentation.

Where to set it

On Create speech, clone_strength goes in voice_settings. On Create dialogue, it goes in settings. ElevenLabs recommends a value of 0 for most use cases.

Change to Text to Dialogue

On the Text to Dialogue endpoints, clone_strength now decides whether a v4 PVC runs as a PVC or as an Instant Voice Clone (IVC). The use_pvc_as_ivc parameter is deprecated as a result.
