draw.io exports step animations as a GIF or MP4

File, Export as, Animation now offers Animated GIF or MP4 Video. The announcement does not say which draw.io apps include it.
draw.io said on October 28 that a step animation can be exported as a GIF or an MP4. The menu path is File, then Export as, then Animation, and the choices are Animated GIF or MP4 Video.
The post does not name an app version, and it does not say whether the web editor and the desktop apps both include the export, or whether the file includes sound. No separate changelog was linked. A July 2026 discussion on the draw.io repository said the older Animated GIF export was for multi-page diagrams, not step animations. This post presents the Animation export as the path for step animations, and it does not say that older limit is gone. The editor itself remains free.
