draw.io Diagrams agent for Rovo in Confluence Cloud

By Steven Van ·

The draw.io agent in Confluence Cloud can generate, edit and check diagrams, including from whiteboard photos, and save them to the page as a new version.

The draw.io Diagrams agent for Rovo is now available in Confluence Cloud, as part of draw.io for Atlassian Confluence Cloud 7.1 and draw.io Zero Egress 6.1. It lets users create and edit diagrams from a Rovo chat.

Drawing a diagram

Open a Rovo chat in Confluence and select the draw.io Diagrams agent. Ask Rovo to generate a diagram from a description, from the page you are looking at, from a template, or from a photo of whiteboard meeting notes. Rovo shows a preview in the chat, and you can ask for changes. When the diagram looks right, ask Rovo to save it to the page. It is inserted into the page and a new page version is saved.

The agent can draw UML, flowcharts, business diagrams, org charts, network diagrams, mockups, infographics, floorplans, timelines, project planning diagrams, and all supported Mermaid types.

What the agent can do

  • Editable output: diagrams use real draw.io shapes, including a company's own custom library shapes, and can be edited and styled in the draw.io editor as if drawn from scratch. draw.io has more than 10,000 shapes, including icon sets such as AWS, GCP, BPMN and UML.
  • Photo to diagram: a photo of a whiteboard session or a sketch in meeting notes can be turned into an editable diagram that follows the company's style.
  • Editing without regenerating: Rovo can add shapes, change the style, reroute connectors or improve the layout of existing diagrams. Changes are previewed, then saved to the page as a new page version. This works for existing diagrams and for ones newly generated in the chat.
  • Checking diagrams: Rovo can analyse whether existing diagrams make sense, flagging flows that have no obvious start or that end abruptly.

Protecting other people's edits

Changes made through Rovo will not overwrite changes made by another person editing the same diagram. Rovo asks for manual confirmation before it replaces a layout or style that a person set in the draw.io editor.
