Devin now works across Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365

By Steven Van ·

Available to all Devin customers, with six Microsoft 365 connections that use delegated per-user permissions and read-only minimums.

Devin can now be @ mentioned in Microsoft Teams DMs and group chats, and a first-party Microsoft 365 integration connects Devin to mail, calendar, files, tasks, chats and the directory. Both are available now to all Devin customers.

Devin in Microsoft Teams

Devin has been available in Teams channels since last year. It can now also be messaged directly or added to a group chat, where it starts a session and replies in the conversation, the same back and forth as in the Devin web app.

  • Automations from channels: Devin can listen to a channel and start work on its own when a message arrives, such as a bug report, an alert or a request.
  • Cards: when Devin needs input, it sends a card instead of a long message. Users can answer a clarifying question, approve an action or sign in to an MCP server in one click.
  • Other changes: Devin can @-mention people, send file attachments and mute itself within a chat.

Microsoft 365 MCP servers

Cognition builds and hosts a set of Microsoft 365 MCP servers, listed in Devin's MCP Marketplace. There are six connections:

  • Mail & Contacts: read, organize and send Outlook email, and manage contacts.
  • Calendar: view, create, update and delete events.
  • OneDrive & SharePoint: browse, read and upload files, including files shared by link.
  • Microsoft To Do: list, create, update and complete tasks.
  • Microsoft Teams: list teams, channels and chats, and send a message on the user's behalf. This is separate from the Teams app.
  • Directory (Microsoft Entra ID): look up people, their managers and the user's own profile.

Example tasks from the announcement: read a design doc shared in SharePoint and the related email thread, then open a PR for phase one; or put a review on the calendar and add follow-ups to To Do. Devin acts as the signed-in user and can reach only what that user can reach in Microsoft 365.

Permissions

  • Installing the Teams app grants no access to mail, files or calendars, and the upgraded app requests no new permissions compared with the current one.
  • Message access comes from resource-specific consent, scoped to the teams and chats where Devin is installed. Removing the app revokes it.
  • The Microsoft 365 MCP uses delegated, per-user permissions only, with no application-level permissions. Each connection has its own consent screen, the minimum is read-only, and write access is an optional scope that can be unticked.
  • Tenants that restrict user consent can require admin approval first, and a few broader directory scopes always need admin consent. Admins can use the Cognition first-party MCP server or bring their own Entra App.

Setup

For Teams, install Devin AI from the Microsoft Marketplace, then connect it under Settings Connections in Devin. Setup needs a Microsoft Teams admin and a Devin admin, and each person then links their own account once. To message Devin in DMs, each user must also install the Devin AI app from the Teams app store themselves, since an admin install for a team does not cover personal chats. For Microsoft 365, open the MCP Marketplace in Devin and connect the servers you want.
