Cognition and MongoDB partner to modernize enterprise infrastructure in months, not years
By Steven Van ·
The integration is available now to MongoDB and Cognition customers, and early joint testing cut some migration work from five or six hours to about one.
Cognition and MongoDB are bringing Devin into MongoDB's Application Modernization Platform (AMP), with the aim of moving customers' legacy applications to MongoDB Atlas. The integration is called Devin for MongoDB Modernizations.
How the work is split
Devin handles the code side of a migration: planning, and rewriting business logic and data access layers case by case. AMP's deterministic tooling moves each record into MongoDB and validates it. Devin connects directly to that tooling and orchestrates the process end to end, so the migration runs as one coordinated process rather than a set of scripts and manual handoffs.
Engineering teams keep the decisions that need human judgment, such as designing the target data model and sequencing the cutover. Once the migration is done, the team can verify that the modernized application behaves as expected.
Early results
In early joint testing, work that used to take five to six hours now takes just over an hour. Bilt's CTO, Kosta Krauth, said the company is using Devin to move its remaining search workloads onto MongoDB. Its neighborhood search already runs on MongoDB.
Availability
Devin for MongoDB Modernizations is available now to MongoDB and Cognition customers. Cognition has documentation on connecting Devin to MongoDB.
