Update Nova-3 Keyterms Mid-Stream
By Steven Van ·
Nova-3 streaming users can replace keyterms with a Configure message on the global endpoint; EU, Australia and India endpoints aren't supported yet.
Nova-3 streams can now have their keyterms replaced mid-session, without reconnecting. Sending a keyterms array in a Configure message on /v1/listen swaps the whole list, so the vocabulary can follow each step of a call. Deepgram documents the update in its keyterm prompting docs.
- Each keyterms array replaces the whole list, including keyterms set with the keyterm query parameter. An empty array [] clears them.
- The 500-token keyterm limit applies to each update. An over-limit update returns an Error and leaves the stream's keyterms unchanged.
- It works on every Nova-3 streaming model, including monolingual languages, multilingual (language=multi) and Nova-3 Medical, and behaves the same as keyterms set when the stream opens.
- The same message can turn formatting features on or off, for example "features": { "numerals": true }.
- Sending keyterms on another model returns an Error with code KeytermsNotSupported, and the stream continues with its previous settings.
The feature is available on the global endpoint (api.deepgram.com). It isn't available yet on the EU, Australia or India regional endpoints. The /v1/listen API reference now documents the Configure message.
