JavaScript SDK v5.15.0

By Steven Van ·

Developers can update Nova-3 keyterms mid-stream and exchange experimental custom Think-provider messages in Voice Agent sessions.

Active Nova-3 streams can now change keyterms and numerals without reconnecting in Deepgram’s JavaScript SDK v5.15.0. The release also adds experimental custom Think-provider messages for Voice Agent sessions and fixes connection retry behavior.

Reconfigure live streams

For live Listen V1 streams, sendConfigure({ type: "Configure", ... }) updates the stream’s configuration. Each Configure message replaces its keyterms and can turn formatting options on or off through a features object, such as "features": { "numerals": true }. Mid-stream keyterm updates are available only on the global endpoint, api.deepgram.com. Configure rejections arrive as typed ListenV1Error messages.

Exchange custom Think-provider messages

Voice Agent sessions can send experimental custom payloads with sendCustomToThinkProvider(...) and receive AgentV1CustomFromThinkProvider messages. This requires a configured custom Think-provider wss:// endpoint owned by the application.

Connection retry fixes

WebSocket connection errors now retry through the configured reconnectAttempts budget unless the application explicitly closed the socket. For custom transports, the retry budget resets after a connection stays open for the default five-second stable period. Unstable connections still stop after reconnectAttempts.
