Codex adopts new Agent Plugins standard with AWS, Cursor, GitHub

Plugins built to the standard now work across Codex and other compatible clients without rebuilding.
OpenAI introduced Agent Plugins, an open standard for packaging Agent Skills and MCP server configurations so a plugin built once can run across compatible clients. The standard was developed jointly with AWS, Cursor, GitHub, VS Code, and Vercel, and applies to Codex along with those other tools.
For creators building on Codex, this means a plugin no longer has to be rebuilt for each agent client it needs to support. See the announcement for details.
