Codex 0.156.0 adds a fullscreen TUI, default voice conversations, a usage dashboard, and default worktree sessions.
Codex's 0.156.0 release adds an optional fullscreen terminal UI, turned on with /tui, which includes transcript search, mouse selection and right-click copying. Voice conversations are now enabled by default, with an F8 toggle, a /voice settings picker, and bundled audio runtimes for Linux and Windows.
- A new /usage dashboard shows account usage, token totals, and plugin and skill activity.
- The agent command center can filter tasks by status and create worktree sessions; worktree support is now on by default.
- Six new terminal themes are available, and responses can display supported Mermaid diagrams and equations directly.
- The local background server can be updated through /daemon, or bypassed with --no-daemon.
Bug fixes cover streamed answers and plans surviving failed or interrupted turns, clipboard forwarding in tmux and SSH sessions, Plan mode persisting across resumed sessions, and sandbox isolation gaps involving inbound Windows connections, privileged Linux/macOS sockets, and writes through read-only macOS file handles.
