💬 Claude releases "Cross-Session Messaging"
Claude released “Cross-Session Messaging,” allowing Claude Code sessions to message each other directly.
Instead of re-explaining what you just did in one terminal to a session running in another, you tell Claude to hand it off, and the other session picks up the update mid-task.
Note: Cross-session messaging needs Claude Code version 2.1.224 or later, and currently only works on Mac and Linux, not Windows.
If you juggle several at once (one per project, or one per bug), you used to have to explain each one's status to the others by hand. Now Claude does that handoff for you.
What’s possible now:
Claude sends a short written summary of what happened, never your full chat history or files.
It works both ways too. Ask a question in one session, and Claude relays the answer back to the session you're actively working in.
Claude can also message another session on its own, like flagging when a change it just made affects work happening somewhere else.
What's a Claude Code "session"? A session is just one running instance of Claude Code, like a single terminal window working through its own task.

Instead of every tool building its own custom integration format, Agent Plugins gives developers one shared way to package and distribute extensions across different agents.

Agent Plugins is an open standard, so any agent can adopt it rather than being locked into one vendor's format.
It supports Agent Skills and MCP out of the gate, with more plugin types planned.
OpenAI built it in collaboration with Google, Vercel, AWS, GitHub, Cursor, and others, so it's designed to work across the agent ecosystem rather than just one company's tools.
