Claude brings editing to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
By Steven Van ·
The public beta adds an in-file sidebar and connectors for creating and editing Google files on paid Claude plans.
Paid Claude plans can now use a public beta that edits Google files from a sidebar or directly from a conversation.
Work inside an open file
The Workspace add-on reads the open document and selected text, cells or slides. It can suggest rewrites in Docs, build formulas, pivot tables and charts in Sheets, and create Slides using the deck's layouts and themes.
Choose how edits are applied
By default, changes appear as approval cards. An Accept all edits mode applies changes without pausing. Separate Google Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors can create and edit files from Claude, respecting existing sharing permissions. Team and Enterprise owners must enable these connectors first.
The October 6 announcement includes setup instructions for the public beta.
