Claude apps will run sessions in auto mode by default next week

By Steven Van ·

Starting next week, Claude on web, desktop and mobile skips step-by-step approvals on Pro, Max and Team plans, with an automated check blocking risky actions.

Anthropic announced on October 22 that sessions across the Claude web, desktop and mobile apps will run in auto mode by default, starting next week. The change applies to Pro, Max and Team plans.

Today Claude asks you to approve each step it takes in a session. In auto mode it carries on without those prompts, and an automated check blocks actions it judges risky instead. The idea is fewer interruptions on longer tasks, with a safety check still in the loop.

Auto mode is a default, not a requirement. Anthropic says you can switch back to manual approvals at any time if you would rather confirm each step yourself.

The post does not say which day next week the change lands, or whether Enterprise plans will follow.
