ChatGPT lets you text your dot over iMessage or RCS

By Steven Van ·

A preview lets US Pro users text their dot over iMessage or RCS, though OpenAI says not every Pro account has it yet.

On October 28, 2026, ChatGPT said you can text your dot, the always-on agent introduced in September. Send a task or something to watch as text, a photo, or a voice note. It texts you proactively.

Texting uses iMessage or RCS. Only you can text your dot, and it can text only you. That does not give the dot or OpenAI your other conversations. Release notes say texting shares the dot’s memory and plugins. Set it up from the dot’s profile on the desktop app, with iMessage or RCS turned on.

The rollout is a preview for Pro users in the United States. Help calls it a limited beta outside Business and Enterprise workspaces, and it may miss some Pro accounts. An approval request comes back as a link in ChatGPT. Message and data rates may apply.
