ChatGPT Slides adds real-time collaboration and on-slide editing

By Steven Van ·

Decks made in ChatGPT can now be shared, co-edited and commented on in real time, with direct on-slide edits, on Pro, Business and Enterprise plans.

ChatGPT added new collaboration and editing tools to ChatGPT Slides on October 19. Teams can now share a deck, edit it together in real time and leave comments, then ask ChatGPT to turn that feedback into changes.

What changed

The first change is shared work inside ChatGPT. You can share a deck, edit it with other people at the same time and leave comments on it. When the comments are in, you can ask ChatGPT, or your dot, to turn that feedback into updates to the slides.

The second change is direct editing. You can now click right on a slide to change its text, update charts, and move or resize images and shapes, instead of asking ChatGPT to make every small fix for you.

How to start

To make a deck, ask ChatGPT to “create ChatGPT slides” from a conversation or from a file you’ve shared. When it’s ready, you can present it inside ChatGPT or export it to PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Availability

OpenAI says the new Slides features are available on the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans. The announcement does not mention Free or Plus, and it does not say how many people can edit a deck at once.

Why it matters

Slides made by AI usually still need a round of team feedback and hand fixes in another app. Keeping the comments, the co-editing and the small manual edits in ChatGPT means a deck can go from first draft to final version without leaving the chat.
