Data Agent in ChatGPT Work
By Steven Van ·
OpenAI adds a Data agent to ChatGPT Work that connects to sources like Snowflake and Redshift to answer questions and build dashboards.
ChatGPT Work now includes a Data agent that connects to a company's own data and answers questions about it directly in chat, building interactive dashboards without anyone writing a query. Users add the Data Plugin, connect their sources, and ask questions in a single conversation, refining the analysis as they go.
- Connects to approved data sources including Amazon Redshift, Datadog, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, MongoDB and Snowflake, plus files from Google Drive and SharePoint.
- Reads an organisation's existing business terms, metric definitions and data relationships from semantic layers and tools such as Databricks Genie Ontology, dbt, GitHub, Snowflake Horizon and BI dashboards, so answers use the same definitions the business already trusts.
The feature is available now in ChatGPT Work, as announced on 10 September 2026.
