CapCut adds Seedream 5.0 Pro image editing for U.S. users

The precision photo-editing model lands in Edit Photo and Design Studio, with wider rollout to follow the U.S. launch.
CapCut switched on Seedream 5.0 Pro for U.S. users, putting ByteDance's flagship image model directly inside the editor where most short-form creators already work. The promise in the announcement is aimed at the model's reputation for reliability: precise control, consistent results, every generation. It's rolling out in two places, in the mobile app under Edit Photo, then AI edit, and on the web inside Design Studio.
The model under the hood
Seedream 5.0 Pro is ByteDance's professional multimodal image model, launched in early July as its answer to GPT Image 2. Its calling cards are interactive precision editing, point, lasso, or sketch on the region you want changed, then swap colors, materials, or content, plus reasoning through prompts before rendering, high-density layouts like infographics with text that stays legible, native on-image text in more than ten languages, and 2K output. For photo editing specifically, that precision-editing loop is the feature that matters: edits land where you point, and the rest of the image stays put.
Why inside CapCut matters
CapCut and the Seed model family share a parent in ByteDance, and CapCut has become the retail storefront for those models: Seedance 2.0 Mini arrived in early July for cheap video generation, Seedance 2.5 was announced days later, and now Seedream 5.0 Pro covers the image side. For creators, the practical win is that thumbnail work, poster frames, and photo posts no longer need a round-trip through a separate image tool; the generation and the edit happen in the same app as the cut.
The same model also went unlimited at 2K on Magnific the very same day, which says something about how fast frontier image models now propagate across creative platforms. Where you use Seedream is becoming a choice about workflow and pricing, not access.
How to find it
In the CapCut app, open a photo and go to Edit Photo, then AI edit. On the web, it lives in Design Studio. The rollout is U.S.-only for now, consistent with how CapCut has staged its recent model launches, with wider availability typically following.
