CapCut brings Seedance 2.0 Mini video generation to the US

The lightweight, lower-cost model reaches mobile, web, and desktop across CapCut's AI tools.
CapCut has flipped the switch for U.S. creators: Dreamina Seedance 2.0 Mini is now live, promising the same generative-video horsepower of the Seedance 2.0 family at a fraction of the cost. The pitch is simple, generate more for less, and it arrives across nearly every surface CapCut ships, from the mobile app to the web Video Studio and the desktop editor.
What Seedance 2.0 Mini actually is
Seedance 2.0 Mini is ByteDance's lightweight tier of its Seedance 2.0 video model, built to lower cost and accelerate production while holding on to most of the quality of the full model. According to reporting on the release, it generates roughly twice as fast as Seedance 2.0 Fast at comparable visual quality and costs about half of standard Seedance 2.0. It supports text-to-video, image-to-video, and reference-based generation, exporting at 720p to 1080p in clip lengths of 5 to 12 seconds across multiple aspect ratios. That combination is aimed squarely at high-volume, budget-sensitive work, drafts, mockups, social clips, and rapid iteration, rather than replacing the top-quality Seedance 2.0 tier.
Where it shows up inside CapCut
The Mini model is not tucked away in a single menu. CapCut is rolling it out everywhere generation happens. In the mobile app it powers AI Lab, AI Generator, and AI Video. On the web it lives inside Video Studio. On desktop it feeds both the AI Video tool and Edit Pilot. That breadth matters: it means you can prototype a clip on your phone, refine it in the browser, and finish inside the desktop timeline without hopping between models or losing the cost advantage along the way.
Why cheaper generation changes the workflow
The real story here is not a single flashy demo, it is economics. When each generation costs less, the creative math changes. You can test more prompt variations, spin up more alternate takes, and iterate on motion and composition without watching a credit meter drain. For creators shipping daily short-form content, that lowered per-clip cost turns AI video from an occasional splurge into a routine part of the editing pipeline. Pair it with CapCut's existing free editing stack, auto-captions, multi-track timelines, trending effects, and the generation-to-edit loop tightens considerably.
How this fits CapCut's Seedance push
The Mini launch follows CapCut's rollout of native 4K output with Dreamina Seedance 2.0, which reached Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Southeast Asia, MENA, LATAM, and Africa in late June. Together the two moves bracket the market: Seedance 2.0 4K for maximum fidelity, and Seedance 2.0 Mini for speed and volume. The U.S. availability of the Mini tier closes a notable gap, giving American creators a low-cost, high-throughput generation option alongside the premium 4K path.
