New comments go to the AI chat

By Steven Van ·

New comments on an app preview are addressed to the AI chat by default; delete the @Base44 mention to keep one between collaborators.

New comments on an app's preview in Base44 now start with an @Base44 mention, so the AI chat picks them up and works on them. To keep a comment between you and your collaborators, delete the mention before sending it.

What happens when a comment goes to the chat

The thread appears in the chat as a comment card that tracks its status live, with a View thread link back to the comment. Base44 adds a 👀 reaction while it works. If the comment asks a question, Base44 answers inside the thread without changing the app. If it asks for a change, Base44 builds it and replies in the thread when it is done. Sending a comment does not resolve it, so the thread stays open until you close it.

Other ways to send comments

  • Mention @Base44 in a reply, or open a thread and click the Send to chat icon.
  • To send several at once, use More actions in the comments panel and select Send to chat. Up to 20 threads can go in a single request, and Base44 works through them one by one.

Where comments live

Comments are pinned to elements in the app editor's preview and are visible only there, so people using the published app never see them. They belong to the branch they were added on, and are deleted when that branch is merged or deleted.
