Longer skills
By Steven Van ·
Skills for workspaces, personal use and agents can now run to 50,000 characters, up from 15,000, and the AI chat reads long ones in full.
Workspace, personal and agent skills in Base44 can now hold up to 50,000 characters of instructions, up from 15,000. The workspace skills documentation describes the feature.
What the longer limit means
Detailed playbooks can now live in a single skill. The AI chat reads a long workspace skill in full when it uses it.
How workspace skills work
Skills are saved instruction sets that shape how the AI chat builds apps. A workspace skill applies to every app in the workspace, for anyone who can work in that workspace. The AI decides when to use a skill based on the prompt and the skill's description and instructions. Mentioning the skill by name or purpose in a prompt, such as "Use our brand-guidelines skill for this page", usually gives more reliable results.
Skills are added under Settings, in Build tools, then Skills. They can be uploaded as a .zip or .skill file with a SKILL.md at its root, started from a template, or written from scratch. Each workspace can have up to 100 skills.
Availability
Adding skills to a workspace requires a Builder plan or higher.
