Bring an existing GitHub project into Base44

By Steven Van ·

Base44 can now import an existing GitHub repo, edit it via AI chat, and ship changes back as pull requests.

Base44 can now import an existing GitHub repository and work on it like any other app, rather than only building new apps from scratch. Base44 clones the project into a cloud environment, so there's no local setup and it can be worked on from any browser.

  • Changes are requested in AI chat and appear live in the preview.
  • Work ships back to the repository as a pull request, so the repository stays the source of truth for the code.
  • Private repositories can be connected through the user's own GitHub sign-in.

Imported projects must be a web or full-stack app that can be built and run from source in Docker. Full details are in the announcement.
