Add entities and fields inside a branch

By Steven Van ·

New fields must stay optional, and removing or changing existing entity fields still has to happen on main, not the branch.

Base44 branches let creators build changes separately from their live app, then merge them in when ready. Entities and fields can now be added directly inside a branch, and appear right away in that branch's own preview, as Base44 explains.

  • On an entity created inside a branch, everything is set there, including its data permissions.
  • Fields added to an entity that already exists apply right away, but should be kept optional, since existing records don't have them yet.
  • Removing an entity or field, changing an existing field's type or required status, or changing data permissions still happens on main.
  • Records are live data shared across main and every branch, so record changes are still made on main.
