ASCII Magic launches a free library of 634 animated ASCII pieces

By Steven Van ·

The open-source ASCII Library has 634 animated ASCII, halftone and dither pieces in 24 categories, with GIF and video export and 2-line embeds.

ASCII Magic launched the ASCII Library on October 19, a collection of 634 animated ASCII, halftone and dither art pieces across 24 categories. It covers scenes, cities, UI screens, charts, 3D shapes, mascots, loaders, games, retro computers and more.

You can restyle any piece as halftone dots, dither, ASCII, binary, letters, blocks or your own characters. Pieces can be exported as GIF or video for posts, emails and slides, or used as wallpapers in 4K desktop, phone, YouTube, X header and LinkedIn banner sizes.

For builders, running npx ascii-magic-art lets you browse every piece live in your terminal and paste one into a coding agent. A piece can also be embedded with one script tag and an ascii-art element, and it works with React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte and Astro.

The library is open source and MIT licensed, so it can be used in commercial work.
