Waive outstanding order balances

Shopify now lets you waive an order's payable balance from the payment card on its order page. You can remove an existing waived amount there too.

Staff need the new Waive order balances Admin permission, enabled by default for high-privilege roles such as Store admin. Waived balances appear where applicable in customer accounts, checkout, and email notifications.

Shopify adjusts waived amounts during order edits, refunds, and returns. If the order total drops below the waived amount, it reverses only the excess, starting with the oldest waived amount. The new Write-offs by order report is available on all stores.
