# Write utilization now available in ISR Observability

By Steven Van · 2026-07-16

Observability Plus subscribers can now see which ISR routes regenerate too often relative to their traffic.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s ISR Observability page now shows a write utilization metric for **Observability Plus** subscribers, making it easier to spot routes that regenerate often but get few requests. Write utilization is the ratio of cached requests to ISR writes: a route with low utilization is spending writes on regeneration that few visitors actually benefit from.

For those routes, Vercel suggests increasing the revalidation interval or switching to on-demand revalidation. Write utilization can also be computed directly with the Vercel CLI, by pulling cached request counts and ISR write units per route, or investigated with a coding agent using the cdn-caching skill. See the [full guide](<https://vercel.com/kb/guide/how-to-reduce-isr-revalidation-costs>) for the CLI commands and cache-reason breakdown.
