# Workflow steps now support extended function durations

By Steven Van · 2026-07-24

Pro and Enterprise workflow steps can opt into 1800-second runs, up from 800, via a beta environment variable flag.

Workflow steps on [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s Pro and Enterprise plans can now run for up to 30 minutes (1800 seconds), up from 800 seconds, using extended function durations, which are in beta.

To opt in, set the environment variable **VERCEL\_ENABLE\_WORKFLOW\_EXTENDED\_MAX\_DURATION** to 1 in the project's Environment Variables and redeploy. It requires Fluid compute and a supported Node.js or Python runtime. Hobby plans aren't eligible and stay capped at 5 minutes (300 seconds).
