# Vercel Sandbox is now globally available By Steven Van · 2026-08-24 Vercel Sandbox now runs globally, starting with four regions: iad1 (Washington, D.C.), sfo1 (San Francisco), cle1 (Cleveland), and cdg1 (Paris). [Vercel]() Sandbox now runs in four regions instead of one: iad1 (Washington, D.C.), sfo1 (San Francisco), cle1 (Cleveland), and cdg1 (Paris), with iad1 as the default and support for more regions coming. Picking a region close to the databases or object storage a sandbox talks to cuts latency, and region selection is available on all plans. - Pro and Enterprise teams can also set failover regions, so a new sandbox starts in the closest configured failover if its primary region is unavailable. Without a configured failover, a sandbox just starts in its selected region or the project default. - Snapshots stay in the region where they were created, and creating or resuming from one requires matching regions, though Vercel loads the snapshot across regions automatically during failover. - Defaults can be set from **Settings > Sandboxes** or via vercel project update, and overridden per sandbox with the region and failoverRegions options in the SDK or CLI. Using this requires updating to the latest @vercel/sandbox, sandbox, or vercel CLI. Details are in the [announcement]().
