# Vercel for Platforms can now deploy from your users' GitHub repositories

Teams building on [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) for Platforms can now create deployments directly from their users' GitHub repositories, without requiring those users to install the Vercel GitHub App. Passing a gitAccessToken alongside gitSource when creating a deployment lets Vercel retrieve the source and build it.

- The token should be read-only, scoped to the requested repository, and valid for 24 hours or less.

- Vercel stores the token temporarily in encrypted form so it can complete the source retrieval.

- The token is never stored on the deployment, according to the [changelog entry](<https://vercel.com/changelog/vercel-for-platforms-can-now-deploy-from-your-users-github-repositories>).
