# Vercel Flags: Platform-native feature flags

By Steven Van · 2026-06-22

Vercel's new flag dashboard sits next to deployments, with a provider-agnostic SDK and server-side evaluation for Next.js and SvelteKit.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) has launched [Vercel Flags](<https://skills.sh/vercel/flags/flags-sdk>), a feature-flagging system built into the platform's own dashboard rather than a separate service.

- Flags are created and managed in the Vercel dashboard, alongside a project's deployments, with targeting rules by user attribute, segment or environment, progressive rollouts, and kill switches to disable a feature in production.

- Code reads flags through the Flags SDK, an open-source, provider-agnostic library with first-class adapters for Next.js and SvelteKit. Other frameworks can consume Vercel Flags through a built-in OpenFeature provider.

- Evaluation happens server-side: with Next.js React Server Components, a flag is read with await during render, so the browser renders the correct view directly instead of showing a loader or layout shift while a client-side flag request resolves. A dashboard change propagates to every region within milliseconds.
