# Vercel BotID now available for all frameworks

By Steven Van · 2025-07-22

The botid@1.4.3 update adds a framework-agnostic initBotId() function, after BotID protected nearly a million API requests since launch.

[Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>)'s [BotID](<https://vercel.com/docs/botid>) bot protection can now be added to any JavaScript framework, not just Next.js. Installing or upgrading to botid@1.4.3 adds a universal initBotId({ protect: ... }) function for setting up protection on high-value endpoints such as registration, checkout and AI interactions, with SvelteKit and Nuxt given as examples. Since launch, BotID has protected nearly a million API requests.

In Next.js 15.3 and later, Vercel recommends calling initBotId() from instrumentation-client.ts for better performance; earlier versions can keep using the React BotIdClient component.
