# Use native curl syntax with Vercel CLI

By Steven Van · 2026-05-15

The Vercel CLI's curl command now takes full URLs, hostnames, or just a path, and auto-bypasses Deployment Protection.

The [Vercel](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/vercel>) CLI's curl command now accepts native curl syntax: full URLs, bare hostnames, or the --url flag, alongside the usual curl options. It uses your Vercel auth to bypass Deployment Protection automatically, so requests to protected deployments don't need a manual bypass token. If a project is linked, you can skip the domain entirely and just pass a path, such as vercel curl /api/hello. The feature requires updating to the latest [Vercel CLI](<https://vercel.com/docs/cli>) version.
